Strengthening Community Through Parent Coffee Mornings and Workshops at ISB

At the International School of Belgrade (ISB), fostering a strong sense of community and partnership between parents and the school is a cornerstone of our approach. One way we achieve this is through our weekly Parent Coffee Mornings and periodic Parent Workshops. These sessions are designed to keep our community informed, engaged, and empowered, creating opportunities for parents to connect with each other and the school.

Parent Coffee Mornings: Informative and Engaging

Held weekly on Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 on our Primary or Secondary Campus, Parent Coffee Mornings are casual yet informative forums for parents to learn about school programs, academics, and upcoming community events. Recently, we started live-streaming these sessions, enabling parents who cannot attend in person to join virtually.

These gatherings are more than just information sessions—they allow parents to come together, share experiences, and engage in meaningful conversations about life at ISB. Whether updates about new school initiatives or insights into the curriculum, these meetings help keep parents informed and involved in their child’s educational journey.

Parent Workshops: Expert-Led Learning Opportunities

Complementing our weekly coffee mornings, ISB hosts Parent Workshops on various topics. These sessions, typically led by internal or external experts, provide parents with deeper insights and practical strategies on essential topics related to parenting, education, and child development. Unlike coffee mornings, workshops are scheduled based on the availability of experts, ensuring that each session delivers exceptional value and expertise.

Recent workshops have included:

  • Growing Your Parenting Toolbox, led by primary school counselor Mary Ann Campbell. This session explored strategies for managing parenting challenges and offered practical tools for reducing stress and raising confident, responsible children.
  • Learning Mathematics Well – Every Child Can Do It, presented by renowned educational math consultant Ban Har Yeap. This workshop focused on helping parents understand how to support their child’s learning journey in mathematics, emphasizing that every child can succeed with the right approach.

These sessions provide parents with valuable knowledge and empower them to take an active role in their child’s development. From managing technology use at home to understanding the nuances of ISB’s math program, workshops offer tailored support for parents in navigating various aspects of modern parenting and education.

Building Connections and Community

Beyond the valuable information shared, these gatherings play a vital role in strengthening the ISB community. They provide a welcoming space for parents to build relationships, share insights, and form a supportive network. At ISB, we believe that a strong partnership between parents and the school is fundamental to a child’s success, and these sessions are a testament to our commitment to fostering that partnership.

An Invitation to Get Involved

We encourage all parents to take advantage of these opportunities to learn, connect, and grow. Whether you join a coffee morning to stay updated or attend a workshop to learn new parenting strategies, these sessions are designed with your needs in mind. They provide a deeper understanding of your child’s educational experience and help strengthen the bonds within our vibrant ISB community.

Join us for an upcoming Parent Coffee Morning or Workshop—you will leave with valuable insights, practical tools, and a stronger connection to the ISB family.
