Another calendar year comes to an end over the next few weeks, and many interesting activities have been taking place here in the Lower School Spanish Deaparment. Our Winter Holiday is just a few days away and the holiday spirit is certainly present in our Spanish classes, too. Students learned more about holiday customs and some traditions of the Spanish speaking cultures around the world. We learned about the Three Magic Kings Day (el día de Tres Reyes Magos) and more about Spanish customs, including; traditional menu items for Christmas´s Eve, Lottery day, and the importance of eating twelve grapes at the midnight on the 31st of December. Our older Spanish students created holiday postcards and shared written cards to Saint Clause with their wishes for the New Year, watched different videos related to Spanish holidays and engaged in a lot of playful activities here in our classroom. Our younger Spanish speakers helped with classroom decorations and enjoyed listening to some of the many festive songs during Spanish class. December has been an extra-fun month for learning Spanish and I hope to continue with the same enthusiasm during our time together throughout this coming Trimester. Please visit the Spanish Moodle page for pictures of our amazing trip to the Cervantes Language Center. If you have ideas on how to support our Spanish learning, please just send us a note!
I want to take this opportunity and wish you all a prosperous New Year!
